Human Rights Spokane, previously known as Spokane County Human Rights Task Force is founded upon the principles of the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution, and the Constitution of Washington State. These documents support the principles of the dignity and worth of each Human being. We support the self-evident truth that all persons are created equal. We believe that the dig

nity of each Human being is inviolable. We oppose discrimination and the denial of “Equal Protection of the Laws” based upon race, color, ethnicity, religion, creed, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or social and/or economic status. We further oppose all attempts to promote segregation or separation based upon race, color, ethnicity, language, cultural identity or religion. We reject the doctrine of white supremacy or any other doctrine that advocates the superiority of one identity over another. We pledge to work for the elimination of prejudice and discrimination and to expand the circle of human concern. It is our creed that “saying yes to human rights is the best way to say no to prejudice”. We support Federal, state and local laws that guarantee “Due Process of Law” and “Equal Protection of the Laws” for all persons. It is the racial, social and cultural diversity of its people that makes the United States, and the Pacific Northwest in particular, a special place to live.

Every day, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In these challenging times, when division and intolerance threaten to pull us apart, Dr. King’s message of justice, unity, and compassion is more important than ever.

We all play a role in creating a safe and inclusive community. If you witness or experience acts of hate, bias, or bullying, please visit our website to report them. Together, we can stand against hate and support one another.
