The Washington Talking Book & Braille Library (WTBBL) offers a free library service for anyone in Washington State who has difficulty reading standard print.

🧠 If you have a traumatic brain injury that makes reading print difficult, you could be eligible!

📚 WTBBL offers over 170,000 audiobooks and 75 magazines in an ever-growing collection of materials.

đź“™ Books and magazines are available free by mail with a provided digital talking book player or by downloading with our free BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) app on a smart phone or tablet.

🙂 There are no waiting lists, no due dates, and all titles are available whenever you want them.

📬 If you choose the mail service, WTBBL can tailor book selections to your interests, favorite authors or series. Readers’ advisors and librarians are available Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00 to help with book requests and answer questions. The free digital talking book player is designed to be easy to use, with large buttons, spoken button descriptions, distinct colors and shapes, and a long-lasting battery.

📱 If you prefer using the BARD app, WTBBL staff can help you learn how to use it and troubleshoot any issues. BARD’s interface is designed to be simple to use and only requires Wi-Fi or cellular to download a book, not to listen to it.

➡️ To apply, visit their website at wtbbl.org and select “apply” to access the application for service. A professional must certify your qualifying print disability. You can also call WTBBL at 206-615-0400, and staff can help complete and certify your application over the phone.

This is an important safety message from Avista (12PM on 6/16/26)

"We are monitoring high-fire-risk weather conditions that are likely to begin in the next 1-4 hours.

Due to forecast extreme weather conditions including red flag warning, Avista is activating a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) to shut off power in the areas of northwest Spokane in Indian Trail to reduce the risk of wildfire at around 1:00 pm today. This proactive de-energization should affect about 1800 customers. After the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) occurs, we will not turn the power back on until the high fire risk has passed, and conditions are safe."

Be sure Avista has your current contact information so we can reach you concerning potential outages. To update your information, visit myavista.com/profile or call us at (800) 227-9187.
