Spokane Is Reading is immensely grateful to be a recipient of a 2025 SAGA grant! The Spokane Arts Grant Awards’ goal is to serve as a catalyst, fostering a robust, healthy arts community where individual artists, creative industries, and nonprofit arts and culture organizations thrive. Support from the SAGA program will help cover costs related to bringing award-winning novelist and Afrofuturist Tananarive Due to Spokane including travel, accommodations, and honorarium. This will be one of the largest-scale Spokane Is Reading events to date, building on the success of last year’s record-setting crowds for Perma Red by Debra Magpie Earling. Spokane is Reading anticipates a wide and diverse turnout, especially given Due’s national acclaim and commitment to truth-telling through genre fiction. The community is invited engage in a shared literary experience, culminating in two free events with the author on October 23 at Spokane Valley Library (1pm) and Spokane Central Library (7pm).
