This year marks the 80th Anniversary of the U.S. Women's Open, and it all started right here in Spokane.

As we celebrate this milestone in golf history, we're also celebrating the incredible women who have made the Cotton Classic such a special tradition over the years. From longtime players to first-time foursomes, your enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and generosity have helped make a real difference for the seniors we serve.

A huge THANK YOU to Residential Home Solutions for sponsoring the 19th Hole Par-Tee at the 24th Annual Cotton Classic Charity Golf Tournament for Meals on Wheels Spokane on Sept 14!

After a day on the course, golfers and guests will be treated to champagne, appetizers and great music from DJ Fowler on the veranda of the Kalispel Golf & Country Club event tent prior to the Cotton Classic dinner, auction and awards program - all in support of Meals on Wheels Spokane and the hundreds of local seniors who count on us every day.

Today we salute former Gonzaga Basketball coach - the late and legendary Dan Fitzgerald - who will be inducted posthumously into the Hooptown USA Hall of Fame. “Fitz” who later became a community relations director for Northern Quest Resort & Casino, was instrumental in forging the relationship between NQ and Meals on Wheels Spokane, resulting in the presenting sponsorship of The Cotton Classic now in its 24th year. We will never forget Fitz’s bigger-than-life personality and can-do attitude. He always gave us a thumbs-up and wink 👍😉 saying “let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you.” No, Fitz, you did everything for us and we are forever grateful. Congratulations on your well-deserved HOF induction. 👏🏀🍻

Happy Birthday to the great Nate Hunziker - an awesome guy who’s been a fantastic addition to our event these past few years. Every year he rounds up three former classmates from his (and Dave Cotton’s) hometown of Spencer, Iowa, and they bring a super fun energy to The Cotton Classic including this re-creation last year of a classic scene from Vision Quest which was filmed in Spokane and is one of Nate’s favorite movies, having wrestled in high school. 😂👏 (He’s the one wearing the Thompson High School T-Shirt.)
