Northwest Autism Center had an incredible time attending Unity In the Community this past Saturday as a vendor for the first time! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

This multicultural celebration brought together live entertainment, community resources, cultural appreciation, family activities, and so many opportunities for connection. We were truly impressed by the size, energy, and warmth of the event, and we were grateful to be part of such a meaningful and beautiful day in Riverfront Park. β˜€

Throughout the event we connected with more than 500 individuals, families, and children at our booth. One of our favorite activities is our sensory bin, but this time instead of asking people to guess what an item was, we asked them to tell us how it made them feel. The answers were thoughtful, creative, funny, and sometimes surprisingly beautiful. It sparked so many great conversations and moments of connection!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, explore our sensory activity, ask questions, and share a moment with us. We loved being part of a celebration that honors culture, community, inclusion, and the many people who make Spokane such a vibrant place to call home! ❀

We had such a wonderful time at Northeast Community Center's THEZONE Back to School Literacy Fair yesterday!

Northwest Autism Center loved connecting with kids, parents, caregivers, and community members throughout the event. We tossed out fruit snacks, shared resources with families, and had so much fun watching everyone take their best guess at how many tiny ducks were hiding in our duck jar πŸ¦†

Some of our favorite moments were seeing siblings, kids, and parents team up to count, debate, guess, and laugh together. It was such a simple activity, but it created so many fun little moments of connection at our booth πŸ˜ŠπŸ’ž

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. We loved being part of such a joyful community event!

So awesome! The free emergency drop-in camp for children ages 4 and older at Shadle Park High School is extended through Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026.

THROUGH WEDNESDAY: We’re extending the free emergency drop-in camp for children ages 4 and older at Shadle Park High School through Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026. It will run 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, with lunch provided.

Our camps this week will be in partnership with , of the Inland Northwest , and Spokane Parks and Recreation .

The Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) will also be open at the school through Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Learn more about the DAC and find a range of other resources at spokanecommunityresources.org.

For those in need of business attire at the start of a new work week: has helped us gather a broad range of donated professional clothing and shoes , which will be available at Shadle Park High School through Wednesday at 6 p.m.

We encourage anyone with physical donations to contact our community partners, such as Salvation Army, for drop off, rather than bringing them to the DAC. We can, however, accept gift cards at the DAC. Gift cards are the most immediately useful item for families impacted by the fires.

Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted by the fires, and we’re grateful for all who've come together in service.
