THE STRAY DOGS WHO WAITED OUTSIDE PADRE PIO’S MASS!

One of the touching stories associated with St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina concerns the stray dogs that lived around the monastery in San Giovanni Rotondo🐶.

😳In the early years of Padre Pio’s priesthood, people noticed something unusual.

When Padre Pio celebrated Holy Mass at the church of Our Lady of Grace, stray dogs from the surrounding area would sometimes gather outside the church😲.

🙂They did not cause a disturbance.

They simply remained there while Padre Pio celebrated Mass🛐.

When the Mass was finished, the dogs would leave.

🐶There was also a monastery dog that seemed to have a particular affection for Padre Pio. When the door to the friars’ quarters was open, the dog would sometimes walk toward Padre Pio’s cell and quietly wait outside his door.

🌹🌹Padre Pio was known for his love and tenderness toward God's creatures. His life reminds us that holiness does not make a person indifferent to creation—it can make the heart more compassionate toward it🌹🌹.

The story is a beautiful little glimpse into the extraordinary life of Padre Pio:

🐕 Animals seemed comfortable around him.
❤️ He treated God's creatures with kindness.
🛐 And his entire life pointed people toward God.

🌿 Sometimes the smallest stories from the lives of the saints reveal the gentleness of a truly holy heart.

St. Rafqa (also known as Saint Rebecca) of Lebanon lived a life marked by profound physical agony and quiet tears offered to Christ.

Born in 1832, this Maronite nun voluntarily asked God to share in His Passion.

Severe pain soon struck her eyes, leading to complete blindness, progressive paralysis, and years of intense suffering that left her bedridden. Through it all she remained joyful, often repeating, “With the Passion of Christ.”

After her death in 1914, healings began almost immediately at her tomb. The first recorded miracle involved her superior, who was cured of a long-standing throat affliction after applying earth from Rafqa’s grave.

Thousands of favors followed: restorations of sight, cures from cancer, paralysis, and other serious illnesses. One well-documented case that contributed to her beatification was the complete healing of a woman suffering from uterine cancer after prayer at Rafqa’s tomb.

Canonized by St. John Paul II in 2001, St. Rafqa is invoked especially by those with eye diseases, chronic pain, and the sick of every kind. Her life reminds us that tears offered in union with Jesus are never wasted—they can become channels of grace and healing for others.
