Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington

Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

We connect resources to vulnerable students at targeted schools--this can be as basic as food security or as complex as placing them in a one-on-one relationship with a mentor. By offering the right services to the right students at the right time, we are freeing up the teachers to do what they do best, teach! We also help set students up for college readiness classes.

Recently, our Rural Team had the opportunity to step away from their daily responsibilities and spend an afternoon together with their Program Manager, connecting through creativity, conversation, and a little friendly artistic expression.

While painting ceramics, team members shared stories, strengthened relationships, and enjoyed meaningful time together outside of their usual work environments. Moments like these remind us that self-care isn't a luxury—it's an important part of sustaining the work we do for students and families every day.

When we invest in our teams, we build stronger connections, foster collaboration, and create space to recharge so we can continue showing up as our best selves for the young people we serve.

🥂🏏 We are thrilled to welcome U.S. Bank and Associated Builders and Contractors Inland Pacific Chapter as brand-new $500 Cheers Sponsors for Champagne & Croquet!

These are two incredibly influential organizations in our community, and we couldn't be more excited to count them among our supporters this year. Their investment in local students and belief in the power of community partnerships helps make our work possible every single day. 💛

One of the best parts of Champagne & Croquet is bringing together business leaders, community champions, and supporters from across our region—all while raising critical funds to help students succeed.

We can't wait to deepen these new partnerships through a little friendly croquet competition, a lot of community connection, and a shared commitment to making a difference for local students. 🏏🥂

✨🎄 BIG NEWS! 🎄✨

We are honored and excited to announce that Communities In Schools of Northeast Washington has been selected as a recipient of the Light The World Giving Machines Giving Machine Spokane Initiative this holiday season!

The Light the World Giving Machines provide a unique opportunity for community members to make a direct impact by purchasing much-needed items and services that support individuals and families.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this initiative is that 100% of every donation goes directly to participating nonprofit organizations, as operating costs are covered by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Since 2017, millions of people around the world have participated in this inspiring movement, turning small acts of generosity into meaningful change for their neighbors and communities.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of this global effort and can't wait to share more details about how you can support local students through the Giving Machines during the 2026 holiday season.

Stay tuned! 💙💛

🎓✨ How do you celebrate hundreds of graduating seniors?
With a whole community showing up for them!

A special shoutout to CISNEW Board Member Tim Caldwell, Vice Provost and Dean of Students at Whitworth University, who partnered with our Workforce Development Coordinator Alyssa to gather amazing college swag for students committed to attending Whitworth. 💜

And this didn’t stop there—through our partnership with LaunchNW, we were able to extend the same celebration and support to graduates heading to colleges across our region, including Spokane Community College (SCC), Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC), Gonzaga University, Eastern Washington University, Washington State University, and more!

It’s a powerful reminder that our students are surrounded by a network of people who believe in them, support them, and are ready to cheer them on as they step into college and career pathways.

Here’s to every graduate and the bright future ahead - we see you and are so proud of you! 🎓💙💛

It started with one simple idea from a principal to our Student Support Coordinator:
“I would like to do an Earth Day project this year.” 🌎💚

What happened next was something much bigger.

Thanks to the power of the Communities In Schools model and the incredible support of our community partners, every single K–12 student in Republic School District #309 came together for a day dedicated to giving back. 🙌

🌱 Elementary students planted flowers and vegetables, painted rocks, and beautified their school grounds.
🧹 Middle school students cleaned up the Tiger Trail.
💪 High school students tackled major community projects — collecting more than 200 pounds of trash, restoring the fairgrounds, revitalizing the city park, and helping build a brand-new outdoor garden space.

A huge thank you to K Diamond K Guest Ranch for generously donating shirts for the event and helping make the day even more special for our students! 👕💚

But the biggest impact wasn’t measured in pounds of trash collected or projects completed.

It was seeing students take pride in their community.
It was watching them work together across grade levels.
It was witnessing students realize they have the power to make a difference. ✨

This is what happens when we invest in the whole child.
Students don’t just receive support — they discover purpose, responsibility, connection, and belonging.

We are so proud of our students for showing up, giving back, and making their community shine a little brighter. 🌍💚

The final stretch of the school year is officially here… and our educators are running on equal parts dedication and caffeine ☕😅

Our Program Manager, Takwona, rolled up her sleeves to personally hand-deliver special CISNEW wooden boxes filled with our new signature coffee blends and a few much-needed snacks—just a small boost to help school staff power through these last busy weeks before summer break.

Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that the last days of school are a special kind of marathon—and the people in our schools are showing up with heart every single day.

Big appreciation to our partners and friends in Spokane Public Schools for everything they do to support students and families across our community.

Shoutout to the incredible staff at:
Bemiss Elementary
Stevens Elementary
Cooper Elementary School
Lidgerwood Elementary School

You’re so close to the finish line—consider this a coffee-fueled high five from all of us.
Summer is coming.
You’ve got this. 🎉☕📚
