๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ With sadness and deep gratitude, we share condolences to the Williams family in their loss of Mrs. Wilhelmenia Williams.

โœŠ๐Ÿฟ Mrs. Williams was an integral part of the inception of both of our organizations and a beloved community elder. It has been an honor to know her, to learn from her quiet guidance, and to have her steadfast support in the years after the passing of her daughter, the founder of both the The Black Lens and Carl Maxey Center, Sandra โ€œSandyโ€ Williams.

๐Ÿ’ For memorial service information and to learn more about her life and family, please view her obituary here. Mrs. Williams has requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate to either The Carl Maxey Center or The Black Lens:

โ€œShe didn't talk about what she was doing or how she was doing it. She just lived it.โ€

These walks are an opportunity for our community to stand together in remembrance, advocacy, and action.

We encourage our Carl Maxey Center community to show support and walk alongside our partners as we raise awareness for Indigenous families and communities impacted by this ongoing crisis.
