We know this is an incredibly difficult and devastating time for so many in our community. Many people have been asking when they can return to areas affected by the ongoing fires.

Before traveling into an evacuated area, please check the Spokane County Evacuation Map to confirm your address is no longer under an evacuation order.

Even if fire activity has decreased, evacuated areas can still contain serious hazards, including damaged power lines, unstable trees, debris, and active firefighting operations.

Returning before an evacuation order has been lifted can also create additional work for firefighters, law enforcement, utility crews, and other personnel who are working to protect lives, restore services, and assess damage. If someone becomes injured or stranded, those already responding to the incident may have to divert resources to assist.

Updated location! This & Insurance Informational Session has been moved to Shadle Park High School in Spokane. Hear from Commissioner Kuderer, Sen. Riccelli, Spokane Mayor Brown, and Spokane Councilmember Telis.

The discussion will include information about what fire survivors need to know about filing a claim, their insurance rights, and what help the Office of the Insurance Commissioner can offer.

The OIC’s insurance experts will be on hand to help answer specific questions on the claims process and share educational resources.

The event will also be streamed on Spokane City Cable and TVW.
