The anniversary of the movement is both a moment of reflection and a call to action.

Millions of survivors found the courage to say "me too" and, in doing so, changed the conversation around sexual violence forever. But the work is far from over. As new sexual violence cases continue to make headlines, we're reminded that these stories are not isolated incidents. They are part of a reality that far too many people still face every day.

The statistics are heartbreaking. 1 in 4 women have experienced r**e or attempted r**e during their lifetime, and countless others experience sexual harassment, abuse, exploitation, or violence that never makes the news.

Behind every statistic is a person. A voice. A story.

This anniversary is about honoring survivors who spoke up, supporting those who are still healing, and creating space for those who are not yet ready to share their experiences. It is about believing survivors, challenging harmful attitudes, and continuing the conversations that help break cycles of silence and stigma.

To every survivor: we see your strength. We hear your voice. And we stand with you.

Because the movement was never just about a hashtag. It was, and continues to be, about creating a world where everyone can live free from sexual violence. 💜

Our Coalition is growing and so is our movement!

At our annual conference, we were excited to welcome sexual assault programs from across Washington as we continue building a stronger, more connected statewide movement to end domestic and sexual violence.

Domestic violence and sexual assault advocates have always shared so much of this work: supporting survivors, strengthening communities, and working toward a future free from violence. We're excited for what we can build together.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us on Saturday as we celebrated the power of community and the life-changing work happening through LCSNW.

Thank you to our emcee, Po, and our speakers for sharing their experiences and heartfelt testimonials. A special thanks to The Boxcar Room for providing a beautiful venue and A Catered Affair for the delicious meal.

Congratulations to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, recipient of our Light in the Community Award, and Redeemer Lutheran Church, recipient of our Hands of Grace Award.

Together, we gathered for good, and together, we continue creating health, justice, and hope for our community.

Today we celebrate the cultures, traditions, and enduring strength of Indigenous peoples. May today be an opportunity to listen to Indigenous voices, honor their histories, recognize the many ways they continue to enrich our communities, and show respect for the first peoples of this land.

Meaningful change begins when people feel heard, understood, and supported. Mental health is a fundamental part of our overall well-being, and millions of people around the world continue to face challenges that deserve compassion, understanding, and access to care.

Today is and we recognize that every story matters. The global theme for this year is "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change".

By listening without judgement, creating supportive communities, and amplifying lived experiences, we can help reduce stigma and build a future where no one has to face mental health challenges alone. Today and every day, let's make space for honest conversations, connection, and hope. 💚

🧡 Today is Ageism Awareness Day.

We believe that every person, at every age, deserves dignity, respect, and opportunity. Yet ageism remains one of the most socially accepted forms of prejudice.

Ageism can show up in many ways. From workplace bias and harmful stereotypes in media to healthcare inequities that affect how people receive care. It impacts not only older adults, but all of us.

For unaccompanied refugee minors, starting over in a new country can mean carrying the weight of loss, uncertainty, and resilience beyond their years. But here in Spokane, foster families are helping turn fear into hope and strangers into family. 💙

Lutheran Community Services Northwest seeks Spokane foster families for young refugees, while current foster parents share the challenges and rewards.
