These items are great for holiday gatherings or make great gifts! So if you know a Girl Scout, let her know you want to participate. Spooky Science Spokane 2026—an epic night. Our biggest STEM night ever—over 300 Girls and their families came with Halloween costumes, Girl Scout uniforms, and smiles—plenty of smiles. Thank you to all the older Girl Scouts and all our staff for this massive volunteer effort to celebrate Girl Scouts’ love of autumn, science, and fun activities. Slime, magical potions, art projects, snacks, and fun patches. It was a win-win for Girl Scouts and our staff, who enjoyed seeing so many come to learn about Science and Halloween. Girl Scouts rocks!

The fall Halloween spirit is alive and well at our monthly Pumpkin Spice Council event! The girls got creative painting pumpkins, enjoyed Halloween treats, and listened to spooky music while celebrating the season together.

Our newest group of Girl Scouts is taking on the challenge of climbing at the PA Rock Climbing Training in Post Falls. On the first night, bravery was the theme as the girls stepped outside their comfort zones, faced new challenges, and began building confidence on the wall!

Meanwhile, our Cadette Girl Scouts are tackling the Eco Tracker badge! They explored Tubbs Hill and learned more about how they can help protect the natural areas in their own backyard. Along the way, they practiced the Leave No Trace principle of Plan Ahead and Prepare by bringing headlamps for an epic sunset hike that extended into the evening.

What a fun-filled evening at Mobius this week! Brownies from across the region made their way through 10 stations run by the great employees of Mobius Discovery Center and selfless volunteers. Throughout the evening, 69 Girl Scouts from 18 different Troops earned their Space Science Adventurer and Bugs badges. Mobius added a full-sized inflated planetarium for groups to see the distant sky! Girl Scout Programmer Tony Proctor had a blast working with the staff, volunteers, and girls to help make this evening a success. The Girl Scout STEM Mobile welcomed the Girl Scouts to the fun event. Girl Scouts applaud Executive Director Karen Hudson of Mobius Science Center and her motivated staff for laying out the red carpet for our Girl Scouts and challenging them to look up and reach for the stars!

Girl Scouts is honored to be part of the return of the Inland NW Honor Flight this week. 84 Vietnam veterans and 1 Korean War veteran made the two-day journey to visit all the war memorials in Washington, DC. We honor three women Vietnam-generation veterans who went along, three trailblazers. We also celebrate all the Guardians who made the trip to es**rt the veterans, including several from Rotary 21, who generously supported this trip! Rotary 21 has also been very generous to Girl Scouts. Cheers to the parents who brought their Girl Scouts out to a very crowded and happy homecoming supported by so many families proud of their veterans! Our Girl Scouts held some of the US flags that line the terminal, and we happily passed out cookies to the veterans meeting them at the airplane. 85 veterans left with all smiles, and our Girl Scouts are honored to be there to tell them thanks for their sacrifice. The honor of the night is truly palpable in the very happy terminal!

The Day of the Girl was this past Sunday—a day when Girl Scouts stand up and remind our Girl Scouts that they have a voice and to please use it to make the world a better place. This week, Mayor Padden and the City of Spokane Valley City Council welcomed our Girl Scouts to their weekly Council meeting to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and thank them for all they do. Salutes to volunteer Sarah Sawatzki and her Troop 5120 for coming down to do the honors. We have another 10 City Councils to visit for Day of the Girl. Many thanks to Spokane Valley for the warm reception!

On Sunday, October 11, we celebrated International Day of the Girl. This event was jump-started last week with the first of many Day of the Girl celebrations across a dozen city councils over the next month. Spokane President Betsy Wilkerson welcomed us with open arms to come and say the pledge. It was a splendid night with volunteer Brandy Aitken’s South Hill Troop 1935. These older Girl Scouts who have done so much to give back to our community remind us that the Girl voice matters. This Sunday, October 11th, is the Day of the Girl, established by the United Nations in 2012. The Mayor of Spokane, Lisa Brown, was also at the City Council for the State of the City and welcomed our Girl Scouts! Thank you, City of Spokane, for uplifting our Girl Scouts!💚
