When weather conditions are smoky and unhealthy, the Youth participate in various indoor enrichment activities.

Spokane Tribal member Margo Hill came to visit with a presentation on Tribal history and driving safety.

The Youth were also led through a communication and team collaboration exercise by Patrick Buckley. The exercise was disguised as a Winter Survival Guide! 🥶 Ask your Youth what the top 5 most important resources were at their disposal. The answers may shock you.

We also challenged the Youth to a team scavenger hunt around the NorthTown Mall! This was a double-sided workbook developed to have the Youth work in teams, discover jobs and their different environments, while also introducing them to what networking can look and feel like.

One of our YES Crew teams went out to help one of our Elders. Even got to enjoy a burger after a job well done! It is so great that our Youth get the opportunity to help our Elders and the people in our community.

Sorry for the late post. Here is a few photos of our (SYE) Summer Youth Employees “Yes Team” hard at work helping our elders and disabled in the Spokane City area. Good job Yes Team & Crew bosses! They have have removed over 2,200 lbs. of yard debris in the first two weeks. If you know of an elder or someone that could use a little help with yard work please call the Spokane tribal tanf 477 office in Spokane to get on our schedule. The Yes Team will be working till July 31st.

REMINDER:
The 2026 Summer Youth Employment Application is now available! Here are a few key points to remember:

- Application close date is May 1, 2026.

- There are essentially 2 applications included in paperwork that needs to be turned in:
1 - 477 Universal Application: 1 application PER HOUSEHOLD
(Completed by Parent/Guardian or by youth participant who is 18 years of age and older)
1 - Youth Employment Supplemental Application: 1 application for EACH youth participant.
(Completed by each youth participant)

- Please make note of the required documents for NEW and RETURNING participants.

- Youth Employees need to be at a 2.0 GPA or higher by the end of the school year, if you are not then get that grade up now!
