Having been in the prison system for 31 years, Phillip has become an expert on the programs and self-improvement components which foster p

ositive change and developmental growth. The purpose of Inside/Outside is to consult the prison policy makers, DOC officials, legislative bodies, and State Government with evidence based research and clear pathways for Reimagining Prisons! We believe that prison is not just a loss of liberty, but a time for a person to be healed and made whole. We believe that mental health is at the root of all crime and drug addiction. If we can help incarcerated individuals overcome their mental and emotional struggles, then we can create a pathway toward redemption and successful reentry. Inside-Outside Consults, Inc. is dedicated to empowering young people—especially those most at risk—with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to build safe, successful futures. Today, we’re launching a fundraising campaign to expand our youth education programs, and we need your support to make it happen.

Youth Scholarships for At-Risk Students�Many young people face barriers that limit their access to education and positive pathways. Our scholarship fund opens doors—providing tuition support, mentorship, and the chance to pursue meaningful goals.

“Know Your Rights” Live Trainings�Every young person deserves to understand their rights, feel safe in their community, and be equipped to make informed decisions. Our interactive trainings teach youth how to navigate challenging situations, advocate for themselves, and stay safe during encounters with authority figures.

It’s important for incarcerated people to be included the conversations about second chances and second chance month. Incarcerated people are more than their past mistakes. Denying them a second chance is denying our shared humanity. It’s saying growth doesn’t matter. It’s saying people can’t change! But they can, and they do, every single day. Giving me, and others like me a second chance isn’t just about justice, it’s healing. It’s about rebuilding lives. It’s about believing in the power of mercy, rehabilitation, and opportunity. # # #
