This is day 2 of 2026 SYS Day Camp. The kids are practicing hard and having a great time! The conductors and coaches do amazing work to help them learn a lot of music in a short two days.

Summer camp for our youngest orchestras at Whitworth University today and tomorrow.
For some if the musicians, this is their first time playing in an orchestra - for many of them, this is their first time playing together 🎼

This post is only for Spokane Youth Symphony parents and families: as you get ready for the fall season, look through your closets for orchestra wear you no longer use.
🛑 🛑 We are bringing back the orchestra attire swap! 🛑🛑
(Pia is going through the stuff we had in storage, washing, labeling...)
Watch your email for details and dates.

🎵 These items are always in demand:
🎵 White tops (girls, long or 3/4 sleeve - all sizes)
🎵 Long-sleeved, button-down shirts (girls and boys, black or white - all sizes)
🎵 Suit jackets (black - all sizes)
🎵 Suit pants or business-style slacks (girls and boys, black - all sizes)
🎵 Long skirts (black - all sizes)
🎵 Black orchestra-appropriate shoes (all sizes, boys and girls - no sneakers)
🎵 Opaque black tights (all sizes)
🎵 Plain black narrow ties and black butterflies

Give what you no longer use; pick up what you need for the upcoming season.

Fall is coming! Rehearsals begin on Sept. 14.
Entrance auditions are on Aug. 28-29. For details, visit our website and click "entrance auditions" in the top right corner of the page.
The Suzuki program has a pre-enrollment introduction meeting on Aug. 31 from 6-7 p.m.
Stay tuned for information about a concert attire swap/trade coming up soon.
Look in your closets and crates for leftover concert wear - trade up your gently used stuff.
Our last camp of the year is on Friday and Saturday at Whitworth University.

We had the very best time at on Saturday.
Beautiful setup in the Clocktower Meadow in Riverfront Park - lots of other nonprofit organizations from all parts of Spokane - and the weather cooperated.
As we move into fall, we will be out and about at many more community events.
