Welcome to Throw Back Thursday with the Spokane Youth Symphony.
Did you know that we've been around for 76 years?
Some still call us "the junior symphony" - because we are a symphony for juniors.
This is a 1951 newspaper clip about one of our very first concerts, found in a scrapbook here at the office.

We were well represented at the All State Concerts, High School Band, Choir and Orchestra in Yakima, May 28-30.
Thank you to Alex, Sabrina, Arjun, Tobin and Sofia, who were among the many Spokane Youth Symphony musicians who were there.
Did you go? Please share a photo in the comments or send it to us so we can share ๐Ÿ™‚

We graduated a large group of outstanding seniors this year, and over the summer, we will give a little shout-out to each of them (in no particular order).
Congratulations to Reagan Smith!
Reagan has been a violinist in the Spokane Youth Symphony for seven years, including the past three seasons in the Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra. She began learning with Jerilynn Harris and later studied with Dr. Jeanne Bourgeois Swanson, both of whom played important roles in her music journey. She will attend the University of Washington in the fall, where she plans to major in biology and hopes to continue playing violin in the UW Orchestra.

Looking for something fun and creative to do this weekend?
Check out on Saturday at the Spokane Public Library's downtown location.
Zines are "homemade" magazines. Small publications published by the people who create them. They are for sale at this event, but you can also simply come to look at the creative and imaginative magazines.

Do you grow vegetables or flowers?
And it goes without saying, we hope, that you shouldn't try this at home ๐Ÿ˜„
