Had a great evening at the “Carne Asada” last night. Good food, good people, and a meaningful conversation about building something rooted in care, culture, and community. Proud to support the vision behind the Cultural and Behavioral Health Center Capital Campaign.

As I was going through pictures, I came across this photo with the late John Alder. He always showed up. He did so much, especially for our local Haitian community, and he was always pushing me to do more and show up more.
He was a big support and truly showed up for members of our Haitian community. Every time I saw him, he was encouraging me, always reminding me that I was destined for great things ❤️

As I announce this campaign, I’m sad I don’t get to share this moment with him. He had already been talking about sign waving and tabling at events because he believed in me and loved our community deeply.

As we kick off this campaign, it’s not about who fills a seat, it’s about continuing the path of the trailblazers who came before us ✊🏾

Fuse Washington and the Spokane Regional Labor Council recently hosted a watch party for the signing of Senate Bill 6346, the newly-passed millionaires tax that made headlines for its floor debate lasting over 24 hours.

In partnership with the office of Governor Ferguson, Spokane’s watch party invited community members and organizations to come together to view the bill signing at the Spokane Regional Labor Council office.

Special remarks were made by the third legislative district representatives, Natasha Hill and Timm Ormsby who were present for the Spokane watch party.

Other speakers included Jeff DeBray of Fuse Washington; Jim Tieken, Spokane Regional Labor Council Representative; Audra Shaw, the President of Eastern Washington Education Association; Kelly Edens, Deputy Director of Children’s Campaign Fund; Llyn Doremus of the WFSE, and Luc Jasmin III, Eastern Washington Representative for Governor Bob Ferguson.

I was glad to be there for the ribbon cutting of Spokane’s new Internal Medicine Residency Clinic.

This is the kind of investment that actually moves the needle. We talk a lot about workforce shortages, but this is how you build a pipeline that keeps providers here and rooted in community.

It is about access, but also about trust and continuity of care. Spokane is growing, and we need to do it with intention, not just urgency.
