10 years ago, Jane and I were having dinner at Conkling's Marina on the South end of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Sitting at a table next to us, was a family with these two cute little guy twins. They got out their fiddles and performed a tune or two for their family and friends. While they were playing, I secretly put one American dollar in each violin case as a tip! It was at that moment, that they discovered that they could make money performing! I would like to take complete credit for launching their stellar music careers! Both Rye and Cash are performing with their dad, Keith Niehenke, this Friday night at our Elks lodge for our Hoe-down night! They have competed and won multiple regional and national fiddle awards!

My wife, Jane won the Queen of Hearts to draw tonight, she then won the 50/50 drawing and finally won the $100 drawing tonight! She didn't go buy a lotto ticket! She donated all winnings back to the Elks Lodge tonight!

Another fantastic Eagle Scout Saturday afternoon!
Nathan is from Troop 439 here in the Valley, and at 6'7" tall, I quipped that in the future, many will look up to him! Nathan is in college, and because of earning the Aviation merit badge, he is going to be a pilot! Nathan perfectly folded his American flag that I presented to him on behalf of the Spokane Elks Lodge, #228.

PER Frank Powers and I handed out ten Elks Essay Contest certificates at Summit School today, in front of the entire school. We had 3 state winners in their different age groups, a 3rd, 2nd and a #1 in the state. The winner was in tears when I called her name and presented the $100 check. This young lady came in before and after school to learn how to write and get assistance on her project. Olivia, in the blue shorts and white shoes is pictured here, with her certificate and #1 check. Mrs. Lisa Chan's several classes participated in the contest this year. Hopefully more next year!
