Community Learning Academy Summer Life Skills Camp is almost FULL.

Out of our original 10 student spots, we only have 2 seats remaining. If interest continues, I may open 2 additional spots to serve more families in our community.

As we grow intentionally and sustainably, my next goal is accessibility. Right now, our biggest barrier for access to quality services for the youth who need more that traditional programs is finances. With low ratios and specialized coaching support, our families need help funding camp tuition. This is our first pilot year and funding options are limited on such a quick turn around. Instead of waiting another year, I want to ask the community to step in and step up for our youth.

I am currently working to secure sponsorships to cover 50% tuition assistance for up to 12 children this summer. To make sure there children have access to services that will set them up, we need your help. Do you own a business or know someone who does that would like to sponsor a child? We need you!

I am looking for:
• 10 local business sponsors
• Individual community donors
• Community partners who believe every child deserves access to social, emotional, and life skills support

Business Sponsors Receive:
• Logo placement on camp promotional materials
• Logo featured on the back of our Community Life Skills Camp shirts
• Recognition across social media and community campaigns
• Continued partnership opportunities with CLA programming and events

This summer camp is about so much more than childcare.
We are building confidence, communication, independence, friendship skills, emotional regulation, and real-world community experiences for kids who need more support to thrive. We are building skills that they will take with them everywhere they go.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child, partnering with CLA, or helping us increase accessibility for families, please scan the QR code or click the link for our Donation Pledge Form.

🌱🌳 SIX MONTHS OF GROWTH

Over the past 6 months, something incredible has been growing in our community.

In December, we officially established Community Learning Academy as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with one mission:
Inclusive Learning. Stronger Families. Brighter Futures.

In January, we publicly announced our opening and began sharing the vision for a different kind of support system for youth and families in our community.

In February, we launched our grassroots campaign. The support from our community began pouring in through personal donations, shared resources, encouragement, volunteer time, and countless acts of kindness.

In March, CLA officially opened thanks to the incredible generosity of the Spencer Masonic Lodge, who donated space so we could begin serving students immediately while building toward long-term sustainability.

In April, we welcomed additional clients and continued refining our coaching-based model through intentional small-group support.

In May, we submitted our YMCA growth partnership proposal for board review as we continue planning for future expansion and accessibility for families in Owen County and surrounding communities.

This month, our very first pod officially reached capacity with 6 students enrolled.

And in June, we will:
• Move into a new location
• Launch our Community Lifeskills Camp
• Begin our VFW Family First Sunday Initiative in partnership with the generous support of the local VFW

None of this would have been possible without the people who believed in this mission early on.

From monetary donations, supply donations, donated spaces, shared professional expertise, volunteer support, and families trusting us with their children — every single contribution has mattered.

One of the most important things we have learned through this process is the value of intentional slow growth.

We are not trying to grow fast just to grow fast.

We are building systems carefully.
We are building programs intentionally.
We are building relationships authentically.
And most importantly, we are building support structures that actually work for the children and families we serve.

Strong foundations matter.

Thank you for growing with us from the very beginning. This is only the start, and we are incredibly excited for what comes next.

I have seen firsthand how many children struggle in traditional environments like schools and latchkey programs. Families and educators work incredibly hard to support them, yet many children continue to struggle because the challenges go deeper than academics or behavior alone.

At Community Learning Academy, we believe we must look beyond surface-level struggles and address the underlying skill gaps that impact a child’s confidence, relationships, independence, and long-term success.

That is why we developed our CLA Comprehensive Growth Assessment, designed to identify each child’s unique strengths and areas of need across 8 core life domains. Instead of focusing only on academics or discipline, we create individualized support plans that help children build meaningful, real-world skills in a supportive, coaching-based environment.

Our goal is to create a place where children can learn, grow, and develop at their own pace while feeling safe, supported, and included. We are building more than programs — we are building a community that believes every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Through strong family partnerships, individualized support, and inclusive community programming, we hope to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s confident leaders. We truly believe we can build a stronger community one family at a time.

Hot take!

You can stop a behavior.
But if you don’t teach what to do instead, something else will take its place.

Lasting change isn’t about suppression.
It’s about replacement.
And replacement requires teaching.

That’s where real progress happens.
