I want to thank everyone who tried to help Cataract to participate in Spencer's Applebutter Festival parade. We were providing the wagons and Owen County Theater group the actors and on Friday we had no horses. Then late Friday night Amanda Argenbright came up with the horses. Everything came together to make it happen. We were the Grand Marshal for the parade. George Washington and Martha with Betsy Ross with her thirteen star flag was in the first wagon and Ben Franklin in the second. Pictures will follow.

If their are any early risers tomorrow morning. I need a couple of people to help load two buggies for the ride to Spencer. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Applebutter Parade is in the morning.

Looks like we are coming up short on horses 🐎 fir Saturdays Applebutter Parade. At least the wagons are looking good all dressed up. The heat has been brutal. Maybe it's for the best.

The Cataract Bean Dinner is upon us. Since we moved the Ice Cream to the outside, it's made any food concession difficult. We still have everything available to serve food, grill, commercial deep fryer and stainless-steel sink.....but we need to make more room. If there is a non-profit out there that wants to partner to take advantage of this. contact me and we'll see what we can work out. For profit might work. This is a Volunteer Fire Department event so we would make sure to coordinate with them as well.

Last week and tree came down on my house and deck. The week before a bolt of lightning took down a huge part of a tree with lot's of damage. Today I have what remains and I can feel good about it.

We will be having a special guest tomorrow night, State Senator Rodric Bray. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Cataract Volunteer Fire Department. The Cataract Schoolhouse will be open house before and after.

Working on a second wagon for the Apple butter Festival. Over a decade ago I bought this old surrey from an antique store in Cloverdale. It was delivered to the Schoolhouse. The gentleman who delivered it asked me, "Did you really pay money for this thing?" I believe that the plan is for George and Martha Washington to ride it in the parade. Hope to do them proud.

Getting one of the wagons ready for the Apple butter Festival Parade. This wagon belonged to a Kansas settler and was passed down through several generations and finally what little was left was sold to someone north of Indy. He bought to restore and didn't know how to do the wheels. I reluctantly took what was left and after a time took it to my friends at Raber Wagon Works in southern Indiana. They rebuilt the wagon using all original metal parts. We used pine tar as the original pioneers did to stain the wagon. We are in the process of restraining. This will be the first time it has been back in action.
