Volunteers are the heart of Spencer Pride, and this past weekend, we had the pleasure of recognizing six outstanding individuals with our 2026 Volunteer of the Year awards!

Each of these volunteers has gone above and beyond to strengthen our organization, support our programs, and help create a more welcoming and inclusive community.

Please join us in celebrating this year’s honorees! We’re grateful for everything they do, and for the many volunteers who make Spencer Pride possible throughout the year.

Share Your Coming Out Story for National Coming Out Day! 🌈

Every coming out story is unique. Some are joyful, some are challenging, and all deserve to be remembered.

This National Coming Out Day, Spencer Pride is inviting members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies to share their coming out stories. Submitted stories will be preserved in the Rex G. Hinkle LGBTQ+ Library and Archive at the Spencer Pride commUnity Center, helping document the history and experiences of our community for generations to come.

Whether your story is a few sentences or a few pages, we'd be honored to help preserve it.

We’re excited to introduce our newest honor: Chamber Captain of the Year. Chamber Captains volunteer their time to support members, attend ribbon cuttings, help at events, and step in wherever needed.

Joan Staubach has missed only one ribbon cutting in two years and continually shows up to celebrate and encourage local businesses. Her enthusiasm, dependability, generosity, and commitment to others truly embody what it means to be a Chamber Captain. We’re proud to recognize her as our very first Chamber Captain of the Year.
