Did you know that two in five individuals in the U.S. struggle to afford period products?
Period poverty is a harsh reality right here in south central Indiana. It heavily impacts our local ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households - our neighbors who are working hard, but falling just short of covering basic necessities. No one should ever have to choose between buying period products and paying for groceries or housing. Period products are essential items. They are not a luxury, they should not be taxed, and they should never be inaccessible.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Spencer Pride was selected as one of just 25+ organizations nationwide in 2026 to receive HUNDREDS of sustainable, high-quality, size-inclusive period underwear, thanks to the immense generosity of the The Period Company and The Period Abundance Foundation.
*What This Means for Our Community*
Expanded School Collaborations -
We will further strengthening our partnerships with our local school systems to get these products into the hands of students, ensuring that a lack of menstrual products never gets in the way of education.
Affirming & Discreet Care-
These reusable menstrual products will also be available as a free resource at our commUnity center as part of our efforts to support and promote dignified, affirming care for our trans, genderfluid, and gender-nonconforming community members that menstruate. Menstrual underwear offers a highly effective, comfortable, and discreet option that respects everyone’s privacy and identity.
Providing reusable, dignified products does so much more than just combatting a shortage—it gives individuals their time, comfort, and peace of mind back.
We are deeply grateful to the Period Company and the
Period Abundance Foundation for partnering with us to uplift, support, and care for our rural community.
