Jennifer Frye International Student Exchange

Connecting U.S. Families with High School Exchange Students from around the globe. We place students from over 40 countries all throughout the US.

The West Central Region is part of International Student Exchange (ISE), a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1982. ISE is dedicated to bringing people of the world closer together through student exchange and intercultural education. Our commitment to our students and host families is what makes us the leader in Student Exchange. ISE's West Central Region works with caring host families from all over Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio.

🌱 Looking for a vegetarian or veg-friendly host family 🌱

Meet Milo, a friendly and active high school exchange student from Germany who follows a vegetarian diet. He’s totally comfortable in homes where others eat meat—he just appreciates having vegetarian options for himself.

Milo enjoys basketball and martial arts (he’s proud of earning new belt colors), board games, family time, and being outdoors—especially near the water. He’s described as curious, easy-going, and open-minded, and he fits naturally into everyday family life.

If your family already eats vegetarian—or is happy to support a vegetarian teen—Milo could be a wonderful match. Hosting is about sharing daily life, meals, and meaningful cultural exchange.

When my family decided to host our first high school exchange student twelve years ago we didn’t really know how it would change our family forever. We just wanted to help this boy who hadn’t been placed into a host family yet and school was close to starting. If I could have changed anything it would be to have done everything earlier so that we could have had a chance to get to know Petar before he arrived.
Here’s your invitation todo just that. We have a list of young people waiting for their host families to take that chance on them. They will arrive in time for the 2026/27 school year to start so there’s lots of time to get to know them.
I would love to help you create a future with one of these brave young people. Ask me any questions you might have.

This holiday season put ISE’s referral program to great use. Help us find hosts for our high school exchange students and help out a local food bank, other charity, or earn some cash for your family.
