Rotarian Cole Milbrath was our program today. He and his wife Hannah and their kiddos went on a very important and emotional family vacation to Michigan earlier this month to visit Cole’s bone marrow recipient family. Elyse, now 9, has been battling cancer her whole life until her life saving transplant from Cole 2 1/2 years ago. This is the 2nd time seeing Elyse in person, the first time to meet her entire family and community. Elyse is doing well. She is going to school full time again and going to physical therapy. The future looks really bright. Not all heroes wear capes. Some donate bone marrow. Cole is literally living our 2026 Rotary.

We love how decorated Ron Bauermeister was at Monday’s meeting. He was doing some cleaning and found a bunch of Rotary pins from MANY years of service.

President Jordan Reed hosted Rotary today at the Spencer Hospital. George Moriarty lost his voice after being in Grandpa’s Barm for 9 days at the fair. Our guest was Linda Burgart. She is the President of the New Hampton Rotary Club and wanted to share with us some of the projects they are doing. We were so happy to have her at our meeting.

Jordan Reed invited his co-worker Amanda Schany to be our program. She is the Director of Diagnostic Imaging at Spencer Hospital. The hospital is moving forward with adding a PET/CT Scan to their modality arsenal. The amount of patients they see in oncology has doubled in the last couple of years. The number one use for a PET/CT is for oncology care. This will be a huge asset for our community and regionally.

We didn’t have a program today and that worked out great. The whole meeting was everyone talking about good experiences especially John Cotton after his feature on KCAU 9 with Tim Seaman!

Brittany Merry asked Julie and John Battern from the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club to be our program today. They are also the co-founders of Live for Him Ministries. They are hosting a Rotary Friendship Exchange next January 14-29 to the “Pearl of Africa” Uganda. You don’t have to be a Rotarian to go. They are limiting to 12. Currently taking 5 more. They will be doing a project at the school plus visiting Rotary Clubs in 4 cities and sight seeing. Cost to you is $3800.
