The groomers rolled Big Hill to try to build a base. It is skiable but very thin with many rocks and hazards. Hoping the base stays until we get more snow.

Big Hill is rolled!!! C loop is rocky, A and D have early season conditions. Track is set but thin in places. It should be bumpy and lumpy with plenty of hazards. Get out your skis and go have some fun. Thank you groomers and USFS

Hello, everyone! This is Kent Moore from Sturgis. I am a guide for visually impaired skiers at Ski For Light. The national event this year is at Snow Mountain Ranch near Granby, CO, just north of Winter Park. I've attended every year but one since I retired in 2010. It is an all classic event with a guide assigned to one skier. You can check it out at sfl.org. But I am available to answer any questions you might have about being a guide. And, no, you don't have to be an expert classic skier to be a guide. Visually impaired skiers normally do not ski as fast as sighted skiers and you will be trained in the techniques prior to the event. Your skier will also be able to dispel any fears you have! Late January early February for a week this event. Snow Mountain Ranch is gorgeous and I have been trying to convince everyone to use it as the permanent home, just so you know how good it is. I could even give you a pre event lesson in guiding at Big Hill if you like. Check it out online and call if you have questions. You may find you are quite good at guiding.

Come enjoy the last groomed ski for the season (most likely). The snow is hard and packed. A has a bare spot on the left steep side and several bare spots on D.

The ice has been chopped. Last day to ski before it rains?!?!?! It should be a fast skate ski and the track should still be intact for the most part. Have fun!!

In an effort to protect the snow we have left from the warm temps this week, please remember only skis on the ski trail. We will attempt to chop the ice when it gets icy and keep you posted. It should be a beautiful day to ski today.

Rentals available at Scheels in Rapid City or Edge Sports in Lead. Both businesses have skis for sale also.

Eric and our new groomer Heath were up early grooming Big Hill for this weekend.

Rentals are available at Edge Sports in Lead and Scheels in Rapid City.

If you haven't donated to the club this year, please consider doing so. We've had a lot of skiers, but our donations are down from last year.

The groomers were up early smoothing out the trails. Get out and ski. Rentals are at Scheels in Rapid City and Edge Sports in Lead.

Big Hill had significant snowmobile damage this week on D loop. The groomers will work to repair it this weekend. Until then, ski with caution on D loop as there are many obstacles to ski around.
