Issued: 6:05 PM Oct. 11, 2022 – National Weather Service
..WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 6 PM MDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph
expected.

* WHERE...Parts of northwestern, south central and southwestern
South Dakota. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Pine Ridge
Reservation and the Rosebud Reservation.

* WHEN...From 10 AM to 6 PM MDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Sudden wind gusts can cause drivers to lose control,
especially in lightweight or high profile vehicles. Strong
winds can cause blowing dust, reduced visibility, and flying
debris.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Currently their is a point 2 point error on some radar images so they are not updating properly, please use the NOAA Radar from the NWS Rapid City South Dakota.

To all of you who use Wunderground Radar it's been down for months and they do not seem in a hurry to fix it. They are trying to push us onto their new wundermap which is absolute failure. Slow and buggy. It is a single point error which i myself could fix in a matter of minutes. Also don't get the warnings they used to help issue for the NWS/Amber Alert. So use caution when using Weather Underground (Wunderground) they have become unreliable at best. Use to work with these people almost daily now i can barely get a response out of them and even that takes weeks. Please use the good sense to use NWS radar, while it may lag in speed it has more comprehensive data in a 6 minute sweet than underground did in it's 5.
These folks need to fix that single point error before someone gets themselves hurt or killed

Tmax Weather Center has moved servers yet again. Back again to an all AMD systems, one where i was able to expand the ram to faster ram, and larger Solid state drives.

Tmax Weather Center is now on a new system, a complete change over to an Intel based system. I7 32gb Memory, 8Tb Solid State Drives, even upgraded some of the windows programs. Something you normally don't want to do on a server during a changeover as it can royally screw with the base server program. Bigger screen as well as touch screen now for faster access to programming. The drives access faster now with the upgrade to the Sata's drivers for the hard drive, while it still doesn't beat the AMD system in overall stats it blows it away for raw grunt work as a server. Also runs using way less power, the other averaged about 240watt this one draws a mere 95watts further reducing my carbon footprint. First major winter storm is approaching, camera has been adjusted for winter season as the sun now rises further south and can blind the camera in the early morning. Camera also runs better on this new system and i am not sure why. USB is the same as the old machine. Perhaps newer drivers intel based rather than amd. I don't know. Welcome to Fall 2021, cheer up snows on the way.
