With great sadness, on August 10, the Spearfish Lions Club lost a great Lion, Past International Director John Daum. Lion John transferred into the Spearfish Lions Club approximately 20 years ago from the Newcastle Wyoming Lions Club and has been a Lion since 1972. He provided the Spearfish Lions Club and South Dakota Lions - District 5SW with much guidance. He will be missed.

Johnnie (John) J. Daum, a devoted educator, passionate speaker, and cherished family man, was called to eternal rest on August 10, 2026, in the gentle embrace of Edgewood Vista memory

Check out the new website for "Grandpa's White Cane." It provides great information about the history of the book, written by Spearfish Lion Jim Hoxie, and Joanna Jones. It has been a great Lion Project for the Spearfish Lions Club and other clubs around the South Dakota Lions - District 5SW, South Dakota Lions - District 5SE,and Lions of Multiple District 5 - Saskatchewan, North Dakota, South Dakota. Clubs can support the vision education project by purchasing the book for school libraries and students and sponsoring classroom presentations. Find the new website here: www.grandpaswhitecane.com
