Our motto is "WE SERVE," and as part of Lions Clubs International, our primary aim is service. at T.K. We also have programs dealing with Diabetes awareness.

Southside Lions Club meets twice each month: 1st Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Gregg Community Center, 650 Howard St, Spartanburg, SC 29303
3rd Thursday at 12:00 noon at Piedmont Club 361 East Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29302

The main project of all Lions Clubs is sight conservation. Local Lions provide eye examinations and eye glasses for the needy in the local community at no charge.

🦁 Southside Lions Club Meeting at the Piedmont Club 🦁

The Southside Lions Club was pleased to welcome Rachel Moreno as our guest speaker at our meeting at the Piedmont Club!

Rachel grew up in Duncan, South Carolina, and is a 2013 graduate of Byrnes High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University in 2016 and her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2020.

As a licensed occupational therapist, Rachel has experience supporting children and young adults with a wide range of intellectual, developmental, sensory, and physical needs. She currently works at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind and serves as an assistant coach for a Special Olympics team.

In June 2026, Rachel founded Pathways to Possibility Foundation, an organization dedicated to expanding access to inclusive programs that empower individuals with special needs throughout Spartanburg County. She serves as President of the Board of Directors.

Rachel shared information about the foundation’s mission and explored opportunities for collaboration with the Southside Lions Club to help make a difference in our community.

The Southside Lions had a wonderful time on Saturday at the Una Fire Department Community Fair! 🎉

Our members were there from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, connecting with the community and providing vision screenings to help promote eye health and awareness. 👀💙

We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and be part of such a successful event!

💙 Lions Club Eye Screening 💙

We are so proud of our Lions who participated in the Eye Screening at Spartanburg Preparatory School on Thursday, September 24th, and Friday, September 25th!

Together, our Lions screened 300+ students, helping promote healthy vision and supporting the children in our community. 🥰👏🏽

A special THANK YOU to all of our Lions who volunteered their time and helped make this screening a success!

🦁 Southside Lions Club Meeting Recap! 🦁

We had a wonderful and inspiring meeting filled with fellowship, leadership, and celebration!

Guest Speaker: Rev. Dr. Larry T. Crudup

We were honored to welcome Rev. Dr. Larry T. Crudup, Senior Pastor of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC, and Adjunct Professor of Leadership at Anderson University.

Dr. Crudup earned his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Ethical & Creative Leadership from Union Institute & University. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and the Arts from Belmont University.

His service extends beyond the pulpit and classroom. Dr. Crudup serves on The Faith Initiative Steering Committee and the Southside Promise Blueprint Leadership Team. He has also served as Chair of the Board of Visitors for the Baptist House of Studies at Perkins School of Theology and continues to serve on the Perkins Alumni Council and the Julius Jones Institute.

He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Dr. Crudup shares life with his high school sweetheart, Jacinta, and their two daughters, Zoe Alana and Zuri May.

🦁💙 Southside Lions Club Family & Friends Day 2026! 💙🦁

Thank you to everyone who came out and joined us for our 2026 Family & Friends Day with the Southside Lions Club! We had an amazing day filled with fun, fellowship, and lots of laughter! 🎉

A special thank you to our wonderful line dancing instructor, Annette Doss, for getting everyone up and moving! 💃🏾🕺🏾 We also enjoyed an amazing talent show and had plenty of laughs during Family Feud! 🎤✨

Today, we gathered at the Piedmont Club for our luncheon meeting! 💙🦁

We had the privilege of welcoming Rev. Earl Alexander II, Spartanburg County Deputy Administrator, as our guest speaker.

It was exciting to hear about the incredible growth and development happening throughout Spartanburg County and the continued efforts to strengthen our community.

A message from our President 💙

As I close this chapter of serving as President of the Spartanburg Southside Lions Club and conclude my five-year membership journey, my heart is full of gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s Farewell Luncheon at The Piedmont Club. The love, support, plaque, beautiful flowers, gifts, and kind words truly touched me. You all had me in tears!

A special thank you to Lion Vickie Woodruff and Lion Helen Wilburn for the thoughtful departing gifts, and to the Executive Board for your unwavering support throughout my presidential year. Together, we accomplished so much through service, leadership, fellowship, and community impact.

It was an honor to recognize our Executive Board members for their dedication and leadership. For those who were unable to attend, please reach out to receive your Leadership Certificate.

I am also excited to pass the torch and congratulate PDG Earlene Correthers as she steps into the role of President for the upcoming fiscal year. I wish her and the entire club continued success.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving. The memories, friendships, and experiences gained over these five years will always hold a special place in my heart.
