A message from our President ๐Ÿ’™

As I close this chapter of serving as President of the Spartanburg Southside Lions Club and conclude my five-year membership journey, my heart is full of gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who attended todayโ€™s Farewell Luncheon at The Piedmont Club. The love, support, plaque, beautiful flowers, gifts, and kind words truly touched me. You all had me in tears!

A special thank you to Lion Vickie Woodruff and Lion Helen Wilburn for the thoughtful departing gifts, and to the Executive Board for your unwavering support throughout my presidential year. Together, we accomplished so much through service, leadership, fellowship, and community impact.

It was an honor to recognize our Executive Board members for their dedication and leadership. For those who were unable to attend, please reach out to receive your Leadership Certificate.

I am also excited to pass the torch and congratulate PDG Earlene Correthers as she steps into the role of President for the upcoming fiscal year. I wish her and the entire club continued success.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving. The memories, friendships, and experiences gained over these five years will always hold a special place in my heart.

Once a Lion, always a Lion. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

What a beautiful celebration today as we honored 15 years of service, leadership, and community impact with the Southside Lions Club at The Piedmont Club! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿฆ

It was truly an honor to be a part of such a special occasion surrounded by so many dedicated members, guests, family, and friends. Today was a reflection of the love, commitment, and service that has carried our club for 15 incredible years.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone and helping make the luncheon so memorable. Special thanks and appreciation to our Past International President for sharing in this meaningful day with us. Your presence made the celebration even more special.

Tonight was truly a memorable and historic evening for the ๐Ÿฆ Southside Lions Club as we kicked off our 15th Charter Anniversary Celebration at TK Gregg Community Center! โœจ

With our theme, โ€œEase On Down the Road,โ€ we reflected on the journey, legacy, and impact of a club built on service and community.

We were honored to have 3 founding members present tonight:
๐Ÿฆ Earlene Correthers
๐Ÿฆ Ruth Littlejohn
๐Ÿฆ Horace Littlejohn

A special thank you to Ms. Earlene Correthers for opening the evening with the rich history of our club. Southside Lions Club was officially chartered on May 17, 2011, becoming the first African American Lions Club in South Carolina.

What started with meetings at Miracle Hill quickly grew to 65 members within just 3 months. Today, we proudly stand at 122 members, making us the 2nd largest club in both the state and our district!

We also celebrated the incredible accomplishments of our members, including Lion Ruth Littlejohn, who was inducted into the Lions Club Hall of Fame in 2025. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

As part of our evening, members shared heartfelt reflections about their journeys in the club:

โœจ 10-Year Members
Kathy Smith
Linda Smith
Joann Fisher

โœจ 5-Year Member
President Lontisha Smith

โœจ 1 Year or More
Jolitha Richardson

Their words reminded us of the importance of service, leadership, fellowship, and the lasting bonds built through Southside Lions Club.

One of the most touching moments of the evening was our beautiful โ€œGiving Flowersโ€ display board, created to show gratitude and appreciation to our members for their dedication, support, and impact throughout the years. ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ’›

We also completed our final Backpack Buddies project for the school year, continuing our commitment to serving children and families in our community. ๐Ÿฅซ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ’™

Special thanks to everyone who attended and shared reflections during the program. A heartfelt thank you to Vanessa Oglesby-Weeks for providing a delicious meal and doing an exceptional job with the beautiful centerpieces. โœจ

It was truly a fantastic evening โ€œEasing On Down the Road.โ€ ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

๐ŸŒผ Making a Difference, One Flower at a Time! ๐ŸŒผ

Yesterday, the Southside Lions Club showed up and showed out for Environmental Week! ๐Ÿ’›

We had an amazing group of volunteers come together to help beautify Carver Middle School by planting beautiful perennial flowers right in front of the school. ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒฟ These flowers will continue to bloom and bring joy for seasons to comeโ€”just like the impact of service in our community.

Thank you to everyone who came out, got their hands dirty, and made this project a success. Your time, effort, and dedication truly matter!

Service. Community. Impact. Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re all about! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›
