Out of more than 180 applicants, only two were denied funding from the South Carolina Arts Commission.

Both serve LGBTQ+ communities.

The Greenville Gay Men's Chorus and Proud Mary Theatre Company had already been recommended for approval. Then five commissioners voted NO.

We're watching how our tax dollars are being used. And we will not stand for community leaders discriminating against our citizens.

The 2026 Equality Tracker is here! From A+ to F-, this scorecard evaluates the following criteria to score legislators...

- Votes on pro-equality and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation
- Bill sponsorships (who authored and championed legislation)
- Committee actions (who blocked, who advanced, who stayed silent)
- Community engagement (who responded, who showed up and who didn't)

Let's start strong by shouting out our A+ champions in the SC Senate and House. These folks showed up and spoke up for the LGBTQ+ community, and were consistently proactive rather than reactive.
