It’s time to talk through another popular misconception of homeless people! 👏
“They just need to get off drugs and get a job.”
Very rarely is it ever that simple! Have you heard of all the ways that homeless people may be prevented from getting a job? 🫱🏼🫲🏾
It can be very difficult for homeless people to hold onto important documents like birth certificates, social security cards, etc. 📄 Without these things, they cannot get a valid ID or driver’s license —which are NECESSARY in order to work a job. 👩💼
Even if someone does have these documents, if they do not have a home, then they will have nothing address to put on a job application. 📝
Furthermore, many homeless people don’t have a way to shower and look their best for a potential job interview. 🫱🏼🫲🏾
👋 These are just a few of the reasons that it may be difficult for a homeless person to just “get a job.”
Often times, there are details that we don’t see! 👀 So it is important to always keep a good perspective, and not to make hasty assumptions.
