Most of us love the image of a welcoming Southern home on a summer weekend: wide veranda, porch swing, scent of roses in the air, and churned ice cream waiting for us to sample. But this image obscures more than it illuminates. We may find respite in such a place, but the wider world always calls us to see that others need homes too. What does it take to make home accessible to others as we seek to create a wider beloved community? We'll break down the word home to find meaning in our UU communities and beyond.

The story of Pentecost is the story of fiery tongues and mighty rushing winds. How do we tend to the fire of the Holy Spirit when the world is filled with injustices? How do we keep hope ignited?

After many years of discussion and many months of planning, UUCS is collaborating with the UCC and Rev. Merianna Harrelson to host a progressive Christian gathering on the first Sunday of each month at 4:00 pm in the UUCS Sanctuary. All are welcome. This gathering is for UCC congregations across the Upstate, members of our UU congregation, and anyone in the community who is interested. These will be open, welcoming, affirming, and kind services in the Christian tradition. Thank you all for supporting this wonderful and much requested endeavor.
