Today, we proudly celebrate an exceptional young lady, Ava Hrysikos of Spartanburg High School as the 2026 recipient of the Candice M. Crosby Memorial Scholarship.

Ava represents everything this scholarship was created to honor which includes academic excellence, leadership, compassion, determination, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. From her accomplishments in health sciences and HOSA competitions to her dedication to pursuing a future in medicine, she continues to set the standard for what it means to lead with both intelligence and heart.

Candice believed deeply in serving others, uplifting people, and pursuing purpose with passion. Ava embodies those same qualities, and we are honored to support her journey as she continues striving toward her dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon.

A student from our community will walk into a hospital wearing a white coat.

Not because they were lucky.

But because someone believed in them.

Because someone helped pay for books.
Because someone gave them a scholarship.
Because someone told them…

“Your dream matters.”

That is why the Candice M. Crosby Foundation exists.

To make sure the next generation of nurses, doctors, and healthcare heroes never give up on their dream because of money.
