Over fifty people attend Spartanburg's first Startup Weekend! The pitches are complete and six teams will work for the next two days to build their business ideas in the Grain District! Amazing turnout and support for entrepreneurship in Spartanburg - y'all come to see the final pitches Sunday night at 5pm at HUB-BUB.

Ever wondered what it takes to be an entrepreneur? The professional and personal challenges, the high and lows, the failures and the success? For 54 hours this weekend, teams will be building their creative business ideas from the ground up in downtown Spartanburg's Grain District. Come out to hear their pitches, drink some local brews and enjoy tunes and lasers from our in-house DJ!

Startup Weekend is a global network of entrepreneurs designed to cultivate new local business ventures. The three-day event invites all local creatives to meet and share their startup ideas and discuss their viability with their peers. The ideas are voted upon and those with the best proposals are assisted through the process of business model creation, prototyping and market validation. All are welcome: you don't have to have any experience with startups, or even an idea for a startup in order to participate!

HUB-BUB is partnering with The Iron Yard, The Space at Wofford College, and the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce to bring the first such event to the Upstate. This is a great opportunity for budding entrepreneurs (or really anyone with a creative idea!) to take a big first step in turning their dreams into reality. The event kicks off at 6:30pm on Friday, February 21 and runs all weekend until 8:30pm on Sunday, February 23.
