Official Statement from the Mason Dixon Conference for the Deaf

We would like to announce that the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is no longer a member of the Mason Dixon Conference for the Deaf. In a meeting held in February 2026, they (FSDB Athletics) formally informed us of their decision to leave the conference in order to concentrate on their own specific goals and initiatives. This decision represents a significant moment in our history, as it is the second time (VSDB was the first to leave the conference in 2020, and now FSDB) since our establishment in 1953 that a member school has chosen to depart from the conference.

We want to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Florida School for the Deaf for their many years of participation and collaboration within the Mason Dixon Conference. Over the past 73 years, they have contributed greatly to the spirit of competition, camaraderie, and progress that defines our organization. We appreciate all the memories, achievements, and shared experiences we have had together.

As we move forward, we now have 9 schools remaining in the Mason Dixon Conference for the Deaf. We are committed to continuing our mission of supporting student-athletes and promoting excellence in deaf sports. We wish the Florida School for the Deaf the very best as they embark on their new journey and strive for success in their future athletic endeavors. Thank you once again for being a vital part of our history.
