Celebrate Veterans Day everyday but honoring and listening..respect..

Today, I had the honor of speaking with a United States Marine Corps veteran whose story left a lifelong impression on me. This Marine served 32 years, fighting in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and carried duties most of us can scarcely imagine.

As he shared his journey, he told me that during combat, his command informed him that a flamethrower operator had an estimated 0.7-second life expectancy when the fighting began. Yet he survived—battle after battle, war after war. And today, he stands as a living testament to courage, resilience, and divine protection.

Now, he continues to lead and inspire others at the Palmetto Patriots Home in Gaffney, where his presence is a reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by the men and women who defend this nation.

On this Veterans Day, I am reminded that our mission must always begin with listening—truly listening—to the stories of our veterans. Their journeys carry wisdom, warning, and strength that the next generation cannot afford to lose.

To this Marine hero, and to every veteran who has worn the uniform:
Thank you. We honor you. We learn from you. And we stand committed to serving you.
