What a day! 16 people got on the bus this morning and represented Spartanburg at the State House. 1 person in the group was able to give their public comment to the committee. It passed the Subcommittee with amendments in a 3-2 vote. Thank you to those that came and those that shared the information.

AT WESTGATE MALL USE 2ND ENTRANCE AND PARK IN LOT 47.

Join us as we tag along with the ACLU SC to the State House to speak out or show support. We will leave Tuesday morning at 7 am and come back around 5 pm. Lunch provided. Sign-up link in our Linktree in the bio section.

Let’s call this what many people see it as: an effort to weaken the voting power of Black communities and protect political power by changing the rules after campaigns are already underway.

Representation in South Carolina was not freely given to communities of color. It was won through generations of sacrifice, protest, intimidation, arrests, violence, and bloodshed. People marched, suffered, and died for the right to fair representation in this state.

Now, after candidates are already campaigning and voters are already organizing, lawmakers want to reopen congressional maps anyway.

That should outrage every South Carolinian who believes voters should choose their leaders instead of politicians choosing their voters.
