A Statement from Alleghany Lives

It is with great sadness that, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Alleghany Lives, I announce the passing of our Emeritus Board Member, Bob Bamberg.

Bob was a founding member of Alleghany Lives and dedicated many years to helping educate our community about mental health and su***de prevention. Throughout his service, he filled many roles, including Board Chair, and steadfastly supported the mission and vision of our organization.

Bob was instrumental in encouraging me to step into leadership as Board Chair. Along with the other officers at the time, he trusted and supported efforts to restructure and strengthen the organization so that we could expand our reach and become a more impactful resource for Alleghany County. I will always be grateful for his confidence, guidance, and friendship.

Bob believed deeply in community. He was a strong supporter of Unity in the Community and was always willing to offer a listening ear, thoughtful counsel, and encouragement. Whether serving through Alleghany Lives or the many other organizations and initiatives he touched, Bob consistently sought ways to improve the lives of others and strengthen the community he loved.

To know Bob was to know a man of integrity, kindness, and quiet compassion. His sensitivity was not a weakness but one of his greatest strengths. He cared deeply for people and had a remarkable ability to make others feel heard, valued, and supported.

Bob was a positive force in Alleghany County and beyond. His contributions, leadership, and friendship have left a lasting mark on our community and on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be dearly missed, but he will never be forgotten.

Bob loved Alleghany, and I believe it is safe to say that Alleghany loved him back.
