The Sparta Lions Club would like to take a moment to honor the life of Lion Sherwood Burns, who passed away on May 19, 2026.

Sherwood was a longtime member whose dedication and service helped our club make a lasting impact in the community for many years. His kindness, commitment, and fellowship will not be forgotten.

He will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his fellow Lions.

For the second half of our giving back to Sparta District #140 in honor of Lion Perry Brooks, the club made a presentation to Sparta Lincoln School, donating a new basketball rack to benefit their athletic program.

Sparta Lions Club President Ron Woodworth was joined by Jonathan Norton, Athletic Director at Sparta Lincoln, in accepting the donation.

We are honored to carry on Lion Perry Brooks’ legacy by giving back to our schools and helping provide resources for student success.

In honor of Lion Perry Brooks, the Sparta Lions Club is proud to continue giving back to our local schools. Through his legacy, the club has been donating much-needed equipment to the athletic programs of Sparta District #140.

Recently, Lions Club President Ron Woodworth had the pleasure of presenting Evansville Attendance Center with items from their wish list.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our students and help provide them with the tools they need to succeed.
