What a great weekend for our girls at the No Boys Allowed Tournament at Bandys High School! We are so proud of every wrestler who stepped on the mat and competed with toughness and heart.

🏆 Huge congratulations to Ava Aparicio and Ali Morales for bringing home GOLD! Outstanding performances and well-earned championships!

🥈 Runner-up finishes for Hudson Wyatt, Halle Hargnett, Tatum Evans, and Maddie Coldiron — these girls all wrestled fearlessly and represented our club the right way!

A special thank you to Andrea Evans and Sophie Martinez for their leadership with our younger girls and for fighting through the toughest, most stacked weight class in the entire tournament. They never backed down from the challenge and set a strong example of grit and composure.

This group continues to grow, compete hard, and raise the standard for our program. Proud of the effort, the sportsmanship, and the way these girls support each other.

The future is bright! 💪🔥

Our Alleghany Trojans wrapped up an incredible season this weekend at the NCHSAA State Tournament in Greensboro (1A/2A Division), and what a way to finish.

Huge congratulations to Senior Alexis Nuevo on earning State Runner-Up at 165‼️
Freshman Jerry Joines placed 3rd at 285
Junior Chris Nuevo placed 4th at 126

Sophomore Kade Parlier (150) and Freshman Brandon Orduna (138) both battled hard in the consolation rounds and represented our program with toughness and heart.

We are extremely proud of these young men and the work they put in all season long. The state tournament is earned — not given — and these wrestlers proved they belong on that stage.

A special shoutout to Alexis Nuevo for his leadership this season. Alexis has been a steady example of what dedication and consistency can produce. His commitment in the practice room, his discipline throughout the year, and the way he carried himself on and off the mat set the standard for our program. His journey shows that success isn’t accidental — it’s built through daily work and belief in the process. He leaves behind a blueprint for the younger guys to follow.

Thank you to Coach Linker for his strong leadership and guidance throughout the season.

This group competed hard, grew together, and represented Alleghany the right way. The season may be over — but the work continues.

🤼‍♂️🌟 NC Elementary State Championships 🌟🤼‍♂️

Earlier this month, several of our club boys competed at the North Carolina Elementary State Championships, closing out an outstanding season the right way — on the big stage.

We could not be more proud of this group. The growth, toughness, and dedication they’ve shown all season has been incredible to watch. From early practices to the final whistle at State, these boys have put in the work. 💪

🏅 Logan Brown – State Runner-Up
🏅 Caden Murray – 4th Place
🏅 Kason Crouse – 5th Place

👏 Colton Halsey and Porter Brown also stepped on the state stage and battled hard against some of the best competition in North Carolina. Competing at this level is an accomplishment to be proud of.

This was the final competition of the boys’ season, and what a way to finish. The medals are great — but the confidence, experience, and growth they gained mean even more.

The future is bright for this group. Proud of every one of them! 💚💛

One day, you will wrestle your last match.

No more weigh-ins. No more bus rides. No more walking into a practice room that smells like hard work and nerves. The singlet will get folded up, the headgear will be set down, and a chapter that shaped you will quietly close.

But what wrestling built inside you doesn’t retire.
The discipline to do hard things when you don’t feel like it. The ability to stay composed under pressure. The understanding that improvement comes from daily effort, not occasional motivation.

The respect for preparation, the humility in defeat, the confidence earned through suffering — those tools travel with you into careers, relationships, and leadership.

Very few people ever get forged the way this sport forges you.
Wrestling ends.
Who it helped you become is just getting started.

What a great weekend at the West 1A/2A Regionals. Your Trojans wrestled hard and placed 5 to qualify for the NC State Tournament and Senior Alexis Nuevo won first place. The consultation round was tough on us and our guys came up short losing close matches. The team placed 3rd but was in second place until the last round where we fell behind by 18 points to East Wilkes and that's with us not having the lower 3 weight classes.

Now we prepare for Tuesday State Duals vs Mitchell Co and the winner moves on to the Western Regional finals which will also be wrestled Tuesday night at East Wilkes High School. Hope to see the Trojan Nation come out to support this team!
