White County FFA Hosts District Land Evaluation Career Development Event

White County FFA recently hosted the District Land Evaluation Career Development Event at Oakdale Farms on Duck Pond. The event brought together 21 teams representing 13 schools from across the Upper Cumberland area, with chapters competing in both the Highland Rim and Upper Cumberland districts of Middle Tennessee.

During the event, students evaluated soil and land characteristics while applying their knowledge of soil science, conservation, and land management. Soil Conservation and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) agentsassisted with the event by scoring the land evaluation sites and reviewing the findings with students, providing valuable hands-on learning experiences and feedback.

White County FFA would like to thank Oakdale Farms for providing an excellent location for the event, all of the FFA chapters that participated, and the White County Soil Conservation Office for their support in making the event a success.

Congratulations to the Van Buren FFA Team One, Highland Rim District winners, and the Livingston FFA Team One, Upper Cumberland District winners! White County FFA is proud to support opportunities that allow students to strengthen their agricultural skills and prepare for future careers in agriculture and natural resources.”
