Sparta Community Members,

The bond that was passed has parameters on how this money may be expended. In order for a school district to request a millage of the taxpayers, an application must be reviewed and approved by the Michigan Department of Treasury. The application was submitted in December, reviewed, and approved. This application outlines the scope of the work that will be completed.

The district has always been a good steward of taxpayer funds, and will continue to do so in the future. The district has pursued bond refundings three times, saving $1.2 million in interest costs. The district is currently doing another refunding that will save close to that as well, depending on the market.

Today is a good day!

Over the past three months, much of the Sparta community has rallied behind the passing of the school bond. But the meaning of what we really rallied for was much greater than just the passing of a bond.

It has everything to do with "SPARTAN PRIDE."

A strong and stable school system is good for our students, families, teachers, local businesses and our community as a whole!

Thank you to everyone that spent time reaching out to their friends, relatives, co-workers and neighbors helping to inform and educate our community about the facts of the school bond proposal.

Your hard work has paid off and you can feel excited for what lies ahead.

It takes a great team of people to accomplish what has been done this far. Thanks for being part of the team!

There is still a lot of work to be done, but together ... WE CAN and WILL get the job done!

Passing a school bond has a positive effect on the community in many ways. Please vote YES on May 3rd!

Several mid-Michigan school districts are asking voters to approve millages Tuesday so they can make big improvements. This would be an investment that could help more than just students and parents.
