Irene & Eric Simon (IES) Brain Research Foundation Dr. Eric Simon continues his research activities as head of a laboratory at New York University School of Medicine.

IES Brain Research Foundation encourages young scientists to enter the important field of brain research and focus public attention on the frequently overlooked area of basic research of the human brain. He is frequently invited to speak at international conferences and to consult for the US government and for private companies. He is internationally known in the field of brain research, particul

arly as it pertains to drug addiction. Dr. Simon’s Accomplishments:

* Discovered op**te receptors (he**in, morphine) in the brain
* Provided the first map of receptor distribution in the human brain
* Coined the word endorphin (to describe morphine-like molecules in the nervous system).
* Published over 250 original scientific papers and reviews.
* 2 published papers became Citation Classics
* Studied Vitamin E metabolism-two metabolites became known as Simon Metabolites
* Trained numerous students, who are now successful scientists
* Hosted numerous visiting scientists

We limit the number of golfers for a good pace for the round.
A fun day of golf at a beautiful, private golf course
We have space for a few more golfers and 20 more "just dinner" guests. Group of 4 or more $90 each for dinner instead of $100.
Golfers: Bagels & Coffee and free chair massage in the morning. Delicious lunch, then a scramble, golf contests, and party subs for golfers during the round.
At the dinner there is a silent auction, door prizes, golf prizes. You will hear from and meet 2 of our bright former student fellows and 1 of our brilliant neuroscientist mentors.
Every attendee gets a goody bag.

DON'T MISS the volunteer run nonprofit Irene & Eric Simon Brain Research Foundation's annual Endorphin Golf Outing & Dinner on Monday, June 1st at beautiful, private Panther Valley Golf & Country Club. Welcome to our newest Honorary Board & Scientific Committee member, Jayeeta Basu, PhD.
Come meet Dr. Basu and hear her say a few words about her experience mentoring Jessica Tai last summer, at the dinner on June 1st (Endorphin Golf Outing & Dinner at Panther Valley Golf & Country Club in Allamuchy Township, NJ). iesbrainresearch.org
Jayeeta Basu heads the Synapses Circuits and Learning Laboratory at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and Institue for Translational Neuroscience. The Basu's lab's research focuses on neural circuit interactions that underlie formation, stabilization and plasticity of long-termmemories to support crucial brain functions, like spatialnavigation and adaptive learned behaviors. Dr. Basu's work is particularly relevant for identifying mechanisms and therapies for memory disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease, epilepsy, and PTSD. Dr. Basu has mentored 2 of our student fellows during summers 2016 and 2025.
