Miss Sparta Organization

The second Monday in October is recognized as Indigenous People’s Day, honoring the history, traditions, and culture of the various tribes throughout America. Wisconsin is home to 12 Native Nations, and the La Crosse/Sparta/Tomah regions currently reside on ancestral Ho-Chunk lands.

In order to properly understand the history of The United States of America, it is crucial to learn exactly how we got to where we are today, especially when that history is rooted so heavily in violence.

Today I encourage everyone to take the time to learn about the origins of the land we live on and acknowledge the many injustices both past and present that affect the daily lives of Indigenous peoples.

It was a blast judging the Chili Cook-Off! Thank you to the Sparta Chamber of Commerce for inviting me, all of the Chili’s were delicious! Extra shout out to The Lions Club for their amazing free French fries. They were so good and I’m excited to taste them again at Kriskindlmarkt this winter!

Be sure to take a stroll downtown for Sparta’s Fall Fest! There’s food, crafts, animals, and of course all of the usual small businesses to check out!

It’s impossible to put into words how grateful we are to have Lucy as part of our 2026 royal family. Even in our busiest weeks together, she’s always there with an infectious smile, some Katseye choreography, and a mission for fun. We are so excited to spend the rest of this year with you, here’s to 13! 💕
