Today, we remember V-J Day and honor the brave men and women who served and sacrificed during World War II.

As we commemorate the end of World War II, we remember the courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our Greatest Generation. Their service helped secure the freedoms we continue to enjoy today.

🐾 PAWS OF GRATITUDE 🇺🇸

Sparta VFW Auxiliary 2698 is collecting items for veterans’ dogs through October 30.

We are collecting dog food, blankets, doggy pads, treats, and other useful pet supplies.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at the Sparta VFW.

Every donation, big or small, helps us support our veterans and their faithful four-legged companions. ❤️🐾

They served together. Let’s support them together.

Simple steps you can take to understand legislative issues and make a difference on Capitol Hill include:
• Signing up for VFW Action Corps Weekly and answering the call to take action when the VFW sends out alerts.
• Reading and understanding the VFW Priority Goals.
• Contacting your legislators about issues impacting veterans and their families.
• Voting in every local, state and national election you are able.

🎓 Calling all students in the Sparta, Evansville, and Marissa areas! Open to homeschooling students also.

The Voice of Democracy (Grades 9–12) and Patriot's Pen (Grades 6–8) contests are now open through the Department of Illinois.

📣 Deadline: October 31

If you're interested in entering or would like more information, send us a message! We'd love to help you get started and see students from our communities participate.
