💙🧡 October Nonprofit of the Month: Project150 Reno!
Every student deserves the opportunity to focus on learning, building friendships, and looking forward to graduation—not worrying about where their next meal will come from or whether they have the basic supplies they need for school.
That's where Project 150 Reno comes in!
Serving more than 3,500 homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged students across 30+ Northern Nevada high schools, Project 150 helps provide essential items like clothing, food, hygiene products, and school supplies so students can focus on their education and their futures.
This month, we're excited to recognize Project 150 Reno and Liz McFarland, their Lead Volunteer, who joined us at our October 1 EMPWR meeting.
Liz first became involved after being invited to an early organizational meeting. What started as a situation she wasn't sure she wanted to be part of turned into an opportunity to roll up her sleeves, help move things in the right direction, and make a lasting difference.
And when asked about her favorite part of volunteering? Her answer was wonderfully simple: "Seeing kids graduate."
Project 150 relies on community support to continue this important work. Right now, they're especially looking for volunteers, acne prevention products, and full-size backpacks. We've also included a list of their ongoing needs in this post.
And there's another opportunity to help next week! Liz will be joining us again at Wednesday's EMPWR meeting, where the nonprofit's work will benefit from our 50/50 cash raffle. Half the proceeds will go directly to Project 150 Reno, and one lucky winner will take home the other half!
