We šŸ’™ our Foster Grands!

My favorite thing about Yerington is the Boys and Girls Club of Mason Valley! Thankful for the relationship the Foster Grandparent Program has had with them for the last 14 years! Travis Crowder and Christina Hurt thank you for always taking such good care of the Foster Grands and the kids under your care!

šŸŽ‰ Big News from Seniors in Service!

We’re excited to announce that Seniors in Service has been awarded an $83,750 AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant, expanding opportunities for adults age 55 and older to serve their communities while supporting family caregivers throughout Northern Nevada.

This award also marks an exciting milestone for our organization. Seniors in Service now proudly sponsors all three AmeriCorps Seniors programs:
⭐ Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)
⭐ Senior Companion Program (SCP)
⭐ RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)

We’re currently recruiting volunteers age 55 and older to provide companionship and respite support for older adults and their caregivers.
You don’t need medical experience, just a caring heart! Volunteers may:
- Play board games or cards
- Work on puzzles
- Read together
- Visit and chat
- Share hobbies and interests
- Provide friendly companionship while caregivers take a well-deserved break

Family caregivers often spend countless hours caring for loved ones, leaving little time to care for themselves. Even a few hours of companionship each week can help reduce caregiver burnout while bringing connection and joy to an older adult.

If you’re 55 or older and looking for a meaningful way to give back, we’d love to hear from you!

Together, we’re building stronger communities, supporting caregivers, and helping older adults remain connected, engaged, and independent.
