Every adoption is why we do what we do. From the moment a dog enters rescue—sometimes scared, unsure, or simply needing a fresh start—our fosters and volunteers work to help them feel safe, loved and ready for the next chapter.

Calling all the tiny but mighty pups! 🐶

Our Toy Puppy & Toy Dog Class is designed especially for our littlest learners—because small dogs deserve the same opportunities to learn, socialize, build confidence and develop great manners as every other dog!

🐕 WHY A CLASS JUST FOR LITTLE DOGS?

The world can look VERY different when you’re only a few inches tall!

Toy and small dogs are often picked up when they’re unsure, carried instead of allowed to explore, or unintentionally permitted behaviors we wouldn’t accept from a larger dog.

Our goal is to help these little dogs discover:

🐾 I can do things myself!
🐾 I can make good choices!
🐾 I can communicate without barking or panicking!
🐾 I can learn just as much as the big dogs!

During class we’ll work on:

✨ Attention & focus
✨ Sit, down, come & beginning manners
✨ Loose-leash skills
✨ Handling & body awareness
✨ Confidence building
✨ Appropriate greetings
✨ Impulse control
✨ Safe, positive social experiences
✨ Understanding your little dog’s body language
✨ Building a stronger dog-human relationship

And yes—we understand that appropriate socialization doesn’t mean throwing little dogs together and hoping they’ll “work it out.”

We create opportunities for safe, thoughtful and positive experiences while respecting each dog’s comfort level.

🎤💕 Meet Dolly Paw-ton 💕🎤

“Working 9 to 5… finding my forever home!”

Some dogs sing their way into your heart… Dolly Paw-ton quietly tiptoes right in and stays there forever.

This adorable 2-year-old Chihuahua mix has blossomed into an incredible little companion. When Dolly first came into foster care with her puppy (who has already found a wonderful home), the world felt like a very scary place. New sights, sounds, and people made her nervous. But with patience, kindness, and love, Dolly has discovered that life can be pretty wonderful.

Today she’s a happy, affectionate little shadow who simply wants to be wherever her favorite person is. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, working around the house, or heading out on an adventure, Dolly will happily be your tiny sidekick.

One of her sweetest habits? When you pick her up, she’ll gently rest her head on your shoulder as if giving you the biggest little hug.

Looking for a sweet little sidekick who loves cuddles as much as he loves adventures? Meet Coco, a handsome 6-year-old male Chihuahua who is searching for his next forever family.

Coco is the perfect blend of affectionate and fun. He’s happiest curled up beside you for snuggles, joining you on little adventures, or making a stop for his favorite Pup Cup! ☕🐶

He gets along well with other small dogs, does well with responsible children, and would thrive in a home where he isn’t left alone for long periods. Coco loves being part of the family and wants to share in all of life’s everyday adventures.

Due to financial circumstances, his family has made the difficult decision to find him a loving new home. Their hope is to find a family who will cherish him just as much as they do.

🐾💜 What a Day for Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows! 💜🐾

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude after Sunday’s adoption event! Because of our incredible fosters, dedicated volunteers, generous supporters, and wonderful adopters, 15 dogs found the loving homes they deserve.
