-----Our Mission, Vision, Passion and History-----
First founded in Seattle in 1898, our mission is to "...unite in the spirit of liber
ty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope." We live the vision of being "people helping people." We fundraise for dozens of charities in our local area like Solace Tree (grief counselling for young people), Forever14 (teen su***de prevention), and Children's Cabinet (children's care for low income families).
100% of our fundraising proceeds go to local charities. None of our staff are paid members; we are 100% volunteer based. Since our founding, FOE has established the renown Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa and donated several millions of dollars in the spirit of "lessening life's ill's."
