Please fill this survey out. It is important and the city asks some good questions, but also be aware of how the questions are presented because the city uses this survey as a way to justify spending millions and millions of your hard earned dollars without asking you. For example they have a question that is almost at the end of the survey where they ask. "which of the following questions do you agree with the most." 1. I am willing to pay a "little more" for additional and or better quality services from the city. 2 .I'm happy with the current balance of city services and or service quality I receive and the taxes I pay. 3. I can live with reduced services and or service quality if it means I lower fees or taxes.
The last one implies that you would get reduced service and quality if they lowered the fees and taxes and that just isn't completely true without a lot more information and discussion. The city is currently using the responses to a similar question on a prior survey where people said they are willing to "pay a little more" and so they are selling the new rec center project as $4.90 a month, but they leave out that the $4.90 a month is just the bond fee and it will last for 20 years and doesn't include the fact that the project costs are significantly higher than they mentioned and how they are going to pay for the millions in higher costs and how you are going to pay for it with increased fees in other areas and on other services to subsidize those additional costs, and will that reduce your services and or quality of services? So please be careful, and thoughtful when responding to this survey and any survey sent our by the city or any government entity.
