Sharing these images from Phillip Thomas as a reminder to slow down, savor and take advantage of these last couple of weekends of summer.

Congratulations to Phillip, RWAV Class of 2026, on this beautiful feature in New England Home Magazine, a longtime RWAV supporter and Media Sponsor.

“We’ve spent so many years bringing the outdoors into our interiors. I feel like now we’re bringing our interiors to our outdoors.

This waterfront veranda began as a space that, as much as my clients loved it, was rarely used. The goal wasn’t simply to enclose it, but to create a true four-season room that feels connected to both the house and the landscape beyond.” — Phillip Thomas

We are delighted to welcome Salgado • Saucier to RWAV this year as a Design Sponsor.

Founded by Peter Salgado and Kip Saucier, in 1997 as a residential interior design firm, Salgado and Saucier worked with high-profile clients including Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Johnston, among others.

The firm later broadened its vision to include lighting, and recently added furniture and accessories to its offerings.
The Salgado-Saucier brand graces fine homes and hotels across the world, from New York to Bora Bora. The brand’s design inspiration includes vintage Hollywood films, modern art, jewelry, and mid-20th-century furniture, including the master works of Jean-Michel Frank, Gio Ponti, Tommi Parzinger and more.

Peter Salgado started his design career as a fashion designer in Florence, Italy. After graduating from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, he moved first to Milan and then to Florence, where he worked for the venerable luxury goods brand Salvatore Ferragamo. Upon returning to the States, he worked for several high-end fashion houses in New York City before eventually starting his own interior and product design firm.

Kip Saucier started his career as a visual merchandiser in Houston before moving to Los Angeles, where he was recruited by Bonwit Teller & Co. There, he was responsible for the visual image of the store’s interior and window displays. After relocating to New York City, he worked as head of Women’s Visual Merchandising at Bloomingdale’s.

Soon after, Kip joined forces with Peter to form Salgado~Saucier.

We’re so pleased that Kathryn Herman Design will be joining us for our Book Signing event. In ‘A Moment in Time: Designing a Country Garden’, the celebrated, award-winning landscape designer presents a four-season exploration of her own home, the beloved historic Pepperidge Farm estate in Fairfield, Connecticut, which she has tended to and lovingly designed over thirty years, gradually developing various garden rooms with plenty of details to inspire home gardeners.

Kathryn is well-known and respected both in the local community and nationally, for her high-end, poetic gardens that are contemporary yet full of elegant softness inspired by quintessential English gardens—perfect for today’s lifestyles and a lovely way to update and complement a historic house. Here, she fully explores her own twenty-acre garden, breaking down her design process by touring the garden in sections and adding thematic essays full of a career’s worth of tips and tricks so all home gardeners can adapt elements of her approach themselves, including the following: form and structure, color, ornament, incorporating history, layering plantings, creating meadows, cultivating an orchard, planning a perennial garden, creating a pool garden, incorporating edibles and vegetables, making a garden appealing to wildlife, and planning for seasonality (winter structure and interest).

Herman believes that a great garden is laid out to create a series of changing experiences. She guides the reader through the importance of sound, through rustling of leaves or moving water, scent from fragrant shrubs, the touch of a soft, velvety perennial, and many other seasonal and intimate moments, all to enhance the sensual experience of spending time in nature, in one’s own garden.

It’s our pleasure to welcome Libby Cameron back to RWAV. No stranger to our event, Libby Cameron first joined RWAV in its infancy, as a member of the Class of 1996. She returned again last year to participate in our Lecture Series, one of four panel members sharing their earliest experiences working with and learning from Albert Hadley and Sister Parish at the eponymous design firm.

This year Libby returns for our Book Signing event where she will sign copies of her newest book. In Notes from A Decorator’s Life she dives deeper into her journey as a designer, from those early days at Parish-Hadley to her present and storied career that includes many awards and honors, which lends itself so beautifully to our event.

In Notes from a Decorator’s Life, Libby shares the secrets of her design, including incorporating color and pattern, upholstery, the art of imperfection, collaboration, and sustainability. She believes in creating rooms that provide comfort and shaping living spaces that tell a story.

Libby Cameron opened Libby Cameron LLC in 1995 after spending 14 years at Parish-Hadley, Inc. in New York City, where she had become a partner in 1989. Her successful career as a designer has garnered her multiple awards and honors, including being named, several years running, by House Beautiful as one of the 100 Best Designers in the US.

We’re so looking forward to welcoming back notable architect Tom Kligerman to RWAV. Tom was a member of the Class of 2025, as well as a panel member on last year’s Lecture Series, as an alumni of the Parish-Hadley design team.

This year Tom returns with his book, Summer by the Sea: Cottages from Watch Hill to Little Compton where he celebrates the magic or summer, and explores the seaside setting of secluded cottages facing the Atlantic along the Rhode Island Coast.

Rhode Island is the birthplace of the shingle style and lauded as the ‘architecture of the American summer’.

This in-depth tour of seaside communities begins with Watch Hill and moves along the coast, weaving together the history of the state, the evolution of the shingle style, and descriptions of the geology and wildlife that create a unique sense of place.

Each chapter explores a different town - Watch Hill, Weekapaug, Haversham, Block Island, Saunderstown, Jamestown, Middletown, Little Compton - capturing landscape and seascape and studying both historic and contemporary shingle style designs.

Featured are works by 19th century masters Calvert Vaux and Charles L. Bevins, new houses by Jens Risom, Gil Schafer, and Peter Bohlin, and vernacular cottages by unknown builders that have descended through generations of the same family. The most recent is Tom Kligerman’s own house in Weekapaug, a gabled, shingled form that he describes as ‘an architectural madeleine for my family,’ evoking the sounds and scents of his own boyhood summers by the sea.

Lush photographs specially taken for the book by Read McKendree capture the spirit of the place - interiors filled with personal histories, generous, inviting porches, and views out over meadows and ponds to the Atlantic beyond. Tom Kligerman’s own photographs of beaches, harbours, and houses- views taken while biking along narrow roads and sandy paths - complete the portrait of this special summer world.

It truly is a privilege to welcome Jennifer Manners back to Rooms With A View as a Design Sponsor again this year.

It all began in 2014, in a small studio on the Kings Road in London.
Former journalist Jennifer Manners created a company that would soon become recognized for beautiful, high quality rugs.

Jennifer was born in Kentucky and her early career as a TV journalist took her around the world, shaping her aesthetic. Jennifer’s extensive along with her instinctual approach to observation and interpretation were key markers in the success in Jennifer Manners Design.
Global influences can be noted throughout the line, resulting in patterns that are often elegant, textured and interesting abiding to the philosophy that a rug is a layer in a room that must sit in balance with other elements, and are designed in concert to an overall space.
Jennifer is hands-on with each design and personally oversees each and every rug the studio produces. It’s this same approach that her studio takes to design. Creating stories with patterns and colours that reflect a personal meaning to the individual who will own them.
Since the beginning, the studio has worked collaboratively and creatively with some of the most celebrated design professionals around the world providing luxury rugs for both residential and commercial projects. With a commitment to the handmade heritage and a uniquely sustainable approach, Jennifer Manners has become synonymous with timeless, elegance, sustainable luxury and British design.
