Dear Friends of Sové Lavi (Saving Lives),
As 2018 comes to a close, we wish to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, donations, time and professional expertise to help uplift the underserved in Haiti with healthcare, education, food and clean water.
Because of your compassion and generosity:
• Thousands of Haitians received eye examinations, prescription eye glasses and eye surgery. This year, the Eye Care Mission examined over 1300 patients and provided glasses to all those in need. In addition, over 100 patients were referred for surgery to our Haitian partner, Dr. Yves Decastro, for surgeries at no cost to the patients. We extend much gratitude to Dr. Mark Shust for leading the mission. And a big thank you also to the group of volunteers at VOSH-PA (Volunteer Optometrists Serving Humanity) for providing their hearts and hands for this benevolent cause.
• The 150 elementary students at Ecole Sacré Coeur receive a hot meal on school days and many were granted financial support for their education. Much gratitude to The Rotary of Sunnyvale, California and Les Faneurs for their continued support and dozens of individual donors who contributed to this cause.
• Many Haitians now have access to clean water because of the dozens of water wells that were drilled with the help of the Rotary Club, Hopital Albert Schweitzer and your generous donations.
Sové Lavi has worked with the underserved in Haiti for the past 18 years. As we enter a new year, our hope continues to be:
• All children at Ecole Sacré Coeur have an equal opportunity to receive a quality education to prepare them to be productive citizens and future leaders.
• People everywhere have access to at least 2 meals a day, clean water and healthcare.
• We all see the humanity and oneness in another and treat each other with dignity, respect, kindness and compassion.
As the beloved Anne Frank once said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” Your generosity, love and support has changed the lives of countless Haitians and for that we shall be eternally grateful.
On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of Sové Lavi, Dumas and I wish to thank all of you for your continued support. We wish you and your loved ones a blessed holiday season and abundant 2019.
Mési Anpil! Bonne Année!
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kimberly Petersen Siméus
