Have you noticed all the public art around Southlake? We pride ourselves on being a City where beauty, culture, and art thrive. These statues in Bob Jones Park were built to honor Bob and Almeady Jones – a notable couple with a rich history in Southlake. With homages around town including Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve, and Bob Jones Road, these historic figures are an important part of what made Southlake the City it is today. Don't miss our 9th Town Hall exhibit, Lonesome Dove, the miniseries: Dramatic photographs by Bill Wittliff, now on display in Town Hall lobby until Aug. 19th. Visit www.southlakehistory.org for exhibit hours.

You're invited to our exhibit reception 4-6 p.m., Sun., July 23 in Town Hall. Our guest speaker will be UNT Assoc. Prof. of History, Dr. Michael Wise, who'll speak about the history of the American West as represented in film. The miniseries, "set the agenda for anew generation of western filmmakers," Dr. Wise explains.

Although not from Southlake, Dr. Wise spent part of his childhood in the 1980s in Grapevine, attended Dove Elementary School and remembers watching Lonesome Dove on TV.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. No RSVP required. We hope you'll join us for this community-wide event.
