A huge thank you to Southlake Style for featuring Dragons Care's Give Back Summer fundraiser series! We are grateful for their support in helping spread the word about this community-wide effort to support Carroll ISD teachers, staff members, and School Resource Officers during times of unexpected hardship.

This summer, enjoying a meal at participating local restaurants is an easy way to make a meaningful difference. Simply dine at one of our featured restaurant partners on their designated day and mention "Dragons Care" when you pay.

The Dragons Care community is coming together to support Ms. Kirsten Chance, a Dyslexia Teacher who serves students across Walnut Grove Elementary, Durham Intermediate, and the CISD Administration Building. As she focuses on recovering from a medical condition, we want her to feel the strength and support of the Dragon family around her.

"I was diagnosed with AVNRT (Atrioventricular Nodal Reentry Tachycardia), which is the most common type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), an arrhythmia. It causes sudden, rapid heartbeats (typically 200 to 280 bpm) due to faulty electrical signaling in the heart. Normally, electrical signals follow one pathway in the heart. In AVNRT, there is an extra pathway (a \"reentrant circuit\") that confuses the heart's signaling. The extra pathway makes the heart beat too early. This stops the heart from pumping blood like it should. Basically my heart will enter that extra pathway then keep looping, causing the excessive and rapid beating. Previously, I was able to control the episodes to some degree, as they occurred, but got to the point where I no longer could. They were becoming more frequent, lasting longer, and I was unable to get them under control. This led me to having to get ER help to get it under control and became very taxing on day to day life, mentally and physically (an episode would drain me and take me out of commission for several days).

I underwent Catheter Ablation surgery. During this procedure, an electrophysiologist threads a thin, flexible catheter through a blood vessel up to the heart. Using heat or cold energy, they create a tiny, precise scar to block the faulty electrical pathway."

This is a Level 2 grant with a guaranteed minimum goal of $500. Every single dollar you give—even beyond the goal—goes directly to the grant recipient.

💚 A Message of Gratitude 💚

One of the most meaningful parts of Dragons Care is seeing our community come together to support Carroll ISD staff members during difficult times.

When flooding caused significant damage to Cori Williams' home, our community responded with generosity, compassion, and action. Because of your support, Cori and her family were able to make critical repairs and begin putting their home back together.

Today, we're honored to share this heartfelt thank-you from Cori and her family.

Stories like this remind us that Dragons Care is more than an organization—it's a community of people helping people.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, volunteered, and supported this effort. Your kindness made a real difference for a local family, and that impact will be felt for years to come.

Dragons Care is organizing support for Megan Elkins, an art teacher at Old Union Elementary School, as she recovers from an unexpected medical situation. Megan shared the following update about what she experienced:

"Early Sunday morning I was taken to the ER because of the extreme pain I was feeling. After some scans, it was decided that my gallbladder needed to be removed. I stayed at the hospital over night after my surgery for observation and am now thankfully recovering back at home with my family!"

This fundraiser provides an opportunity for those who wish to help Megan with medical‑related expenses and recovery needs. Participation is completely optional, and any support offered is simply a way to show care for a valued member of the Dragons community.

Thank you for supporting Megan during her recovery.
